A Compassionate Heart at the Core of Caregiving
Prior to becoming a caregiver, Billie Jean developed health insurance products related to major medical, supplemental health insurance, disability income, and long-term care. She even served on industry and regulatory committees focused on innovative product designs through the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals (AICP).
In 2014, Billie Jean left the health insurance industry to care for her mother, who had received the devastating diagnosis of aggressive liver cancer. During her mother’s remaining days, Billie Jean’s life centered on giving her the best care she could personally provide.
This experience brought home the immense importance of a caregiver’s role—and uncovered a passion for helping others in similar situations. Billie Jean also realized she had the patience, empathy, and attention to detail that caregiving demands. She knew she could make a real difference in the lives of many other people if she pursued work in this field. So, in 2014, she began working as a professional caregiver, and in 2023, she joined Tailored Home Care.

Billie Jean enjoys working as a caregiver because it gives her the chance to spend one-on-one time with clients. She appreciates hearing their stories, gaining their insights, and building camaraderie as new friendships evolve. Cultivating trusting relationships based on respect and listening feels deeply rewarding to her. For all of these reasons and more, Billie Jean models the qualities of an outstanding caregiver.

Life Outside of Caregiving
Outside of work, Billie Jean likes hiking with her dogs, spending time with friends and family, and visiting nearby mountain towns. She loves living and working in Hendersonville, North Carolina because of the warm and friendly people. Billie Jean enjoys the beautiful countryside with its many trails to explore, and she loves sampling the homemade foods of the Appalachian region!
